Focal search (FS) uses a heuristic to choose among FOCAL nodes that satisfy the threshold w·f_min, but its deterministic policy can leave f_min unchanged across expansions. The authors propose Probabilistic Focal Search (PFS), which follows the FS guidance with probability p and otherwise expands the node with the lowest f in OPEN.

  • What is a semiconductor?

    Source: SIA 半導體行業協會

A semiconductor is the chip that powers modern electronics. Almost every electronic device - smartphones, PCs, medical equipment, defence systems, data centres and countless others - contains semiconductors that process and store information, carry power and condition signals. In short, semiconductors are the foundation of modern technology and the global digital economy.

  • Why do semiconductors matter?

    Source: SIA 半導體行業協會

Semiconductors are the marvel of modern technology and the foundation of the digital world. The chip powering a modern smartphone holds more than 15 billion transistors, each smaller than a virus and switching billions of times a second.

  • How are semiconductors made?

    Source: SIA 半導體行業協會

Making semiconductors takes a complex, deeply interlinked and global value chain. The list below summarises that chain at a high level. An overview of the manufacturing process is available through our PFAS Consortium materials.

  • Breaking the cockpit-driving integration bottleneck: Desay SV offers a "both good" answer

    Source: 雷峯網

Leaner architecture and faster response define where smart cars are heading, and cockpit-driving integration is one staging post on that path. Zosi Automotive Research forecasts a 36% compound annual growth rate for China's integrated cockpit-driving market from 2026 to 2030, leaving 3.6x growth by 2030. Once integration reaches mass production, however, cockpit and driving systems share one chip and limited compute keeps tilting toward driving. Over recent years driving capability has been a selling point for automakers, and more compute went to adding driving features and improving models. Under an integrated architecture the two share resources, and over-tilting one way has costs on the other: some integrated designs show stuttering interfaces, dropped frames and sluggish cockpit response, turning integration into "driving first". The real problem is how to guarantee driving safety and capability while giving the cockpit enough resources - arguably the next stage of integration needs to redefine how one chip allocates resources.
